Some of you already think Layndare is synonymous with Sea Mountain, and honestly, that’s because we are completely biased. We LOVE Sea Mountain.
Sea Mountain Inn in Desert Hot Springs was our very first swinger lifestyle venue in 2017, and the amazing, pivotal experience we had there shaped how we’ve chosen to enjoy the lifestyle ever since. We gravitate toward fantastic daytime vibes, free-flow play, nudity, hot tubs, and deep connection with one another.
By 2016, we were continuing our nude recreation journey while exploring the swinger lifestyle. Lay discovered Sea Mountain through a Yahoo forum, describing it as a place where you HAVE to be naked and are welcome to play anywhere. 👀
We were already excited by the idea of outdoor sex, and up until that point, we’d mostly enjoyed the thrill of being sneaky and quick during our outdoor sexventures. I hesitated to make plans because the idea that anyone there, including us, could play anywhere felt a little unnerving.
Sea Mountain stayed in the back of my mind for about a year.
Then, on a Friday night, we went on a terrible dinner date with a potential male third. We said no to that guy, and afterward I told Lay, “Fuck it. I’m ready to go to Sea Mountain.”
“Like… now?”
“Yeah. Why not?”
So, on a whim, we left early the next morning and drove down to Southern California. We arrived that afternoon and checked in on a couples day pass.
Since we were already comfortable with nude recreation, getting naked right away wasn’t a big deal. By the time we settled into our loungers, we saw a woman giving her partner a blowjob. I remember debating whether I should look away or keep watching.
When I shared my thoughts with Lay, he was already openly watching them.
“If they didn’t want to be watched, they wouldn’t be here,” he said. “Especially right in front of the pool.”
Facts.
Over the next few hours, other couples began fondling and fucking each other, and being part of this sexually charged environment quickly started to feel normal, while still remaining incredibly exciting. People were playing in the pool, on loungers, and on beds in the playrooms. There was certainly a lot of action on our first day.
Lay and I were incredibly turned on and couldn’t keep our hands off each other. We’re both very analytical people, and this phone-free, naked environment unexpectedly created a fantastic opportunity for us to openly share vulnerable thoughts with one another. It wasn’t something we thought of initially, since we assumed this was primarily a place where people came to connect with other swingers.
By the end of the day, we’d connected so deeply as a couple that we realized we preferred prioritizing time with each other, even at swinger events.
As the sun began to set, we were given robes for the chilly evening weather.
By this point, Lay and I had been teasing each other for quite a while. We were both ridiculously horny.
Lay asked me to get on top, and I did.
A group happened to be checking in while I was riding him, and I was too shy to make eye contact with the strangers walking by. Lay lifted my robe to reveal what was happening underneath.
Suddenly, the crowd started cheering.
This became a pivotal moment in discovering our kinks. It embodied what we enjoyed before we even had words for it: me surrendering to my submission with Lay and doing things that normally pushed me outside my comfort zone, and Lay enjoying the exhibitionist and candaulist thrill of sharing me with an appreciative audience.
An older gentleman settled onto a nearby lounger and asked if he could watch.
We said yes.
It was the first time we’d ever been asked that question in the middle of sex, and we figured there was no harm in someone simply watching. Unfortunately, Lay soon became distracted by the guy’s facial expressions and lost his erection. Lots of learning experiences that day.
For most of the daytime, I was so shy that I refused to get into either the pool or the hot tub because there were people in them, and that might mean I’d have to talk to strangers!
Eventually, Lay convinced me to get into the hot tub. Being nude in the warm water felt incredible. (Nude hot tubbing has since become one of our favorite things to do together all around the world.)
A couple started chatting with us and quickly asked:
“Are you in the lifestyle?”
We replied, “What’s the lifestyle?”
“Like, the swinger lifestyle?”
“No, we’re not swingers because we don’t swap partners.”
“But do you play with other people?”
“Yes. We had a guy join us, and we met him through an app called Feeld.”
“So you ARE in the lifestyle!”
🤯
We were in the lifestyle and didn’t even know it.
This was the day we learned the phrase “swinger lifestyle.” Up until then, we’d simply called it “fooling around.” We also thought being swingers exclusively meant a full swap between two married couples.
When we got home, we had a lot of definitions to look up, and discovering the term “swinger lifestyle” opened the door to even more places, communities, and events we could explore.
The couple invited us for drinks and invited me to kiss the wife, but I politely declined because I simply wasn’t ready. At this point, this was also the fastest progression from conversation to physical play I’d ever encountered, and I was expecting much more time to get to know people first.
For the rest of the evening, Lay and I fucked like crazy.
I had seven incredible orgasms, and Lay came eight times. By the end of the night, he was practically shooting blanks. His cum was completely clear.
Between rounds, we’d lie naked on loungers, stargazing and talking.
At one point, we danced naked in the DJ room and played on the famous round bed while ridiculous hentai blasted across the TV screen.
Eventually, while we were still having sex on one of the loungers out back, a staff member had to come tell us there were only ten minutes left before the venue closed at 2 a.m.
After such a long drive and such a long day, we should have been exhausted.
Instead, we were completely energized by the experience.
We drove back to our hotel in the middle of the night and somehow still ended up having sex again before finally falling asleep.
We legitimately had the best time at Sea Mountain. For the entire following week, we both carried what can only be described as a serious sex glow. We left feeling more connected, more confident, and more ourselves than ever before.
Looking back, our first trip to Sea Mountain was about so much more than sex.
This was the first place where we saw people openly expressing their sexuality without shame, and we were able to participate in this freeing experience. We discovered that we were already part of the lifestyle, even if we didn’t know the terminology yet. Sea Mountain was where we gained insight on some of our kinks that would later become important parts of our relationship. Most importantly, we learned that our favorite part of the lifestyle wasn’t just meeting other people, it was actually connecting more deeply with each other as a couple.
Yes, while Sea Mountain had a lot of hot action, we realized that we found a place that gave us the freedom to be ourselves, communicate openly, and explore without judgment.
Nearly a decade later, many of the things we love most about the lifestyle can be traced back to that very first day at Sea Mountain: the nudity, the daytime, the hot tubs, the playful sexual energy, the freedom to be authentic, and the feeling of being completely present with one another.
Every time we come back, we’re reminded why this place holds such a special spot in our hearts. It feels like we’re returning to an origin point, a familiar and accepting space where we first discovered so much about ourselves, each other, and the kind of lifestyle journey we wanted to create together.
